The KNIPEX 87 41 250 RAP Raptor Pliers combine the convenience of push-button adjustment directly on the workpiece with the function of an all-purpose tightening tool. The box-joint design provides high stability through a double guide, and jaw gripping with zero backlash prevents slipping on the bolt head or rounding edges. Even rusty, rounded, or thickly coated bolted connections that have no surfaces capable of being gripped reliably by a conventional wrench can be managed by the exceptionally powerful closing gripping jaws of this wrench. The Raptor is self-locking in the range from 11/16-Inch, so it will not slip off the workpiece, and it grips both inch and metric nuts and screws with widths across flats from 3/8-Inch to 1-1/4-Inch. Quick tightening of nuts and bolts is possible using ratchet action, making it ideal for work on vehicle brake systems, locknuts, plumbing, gas pipe work, fleet and plant maintenance, and confined work situations. A pinch guard prevents operators' fingers from being pinched, and the favorable lever action delivers optimum transmission of force. Forged from chrome vanadium electric steel and multi-stage oil-hardened for the ideal balance between hardness and toughness, the Raptor is extremely durable and replaces a whole set of wrenches. Choosing Pliers

How do I choose the right pliers?

Match the jaw to the task — needle-nose for reaching and bending wire in tight spaces, linesman pliers for gripping and cutting general wire, diagonal cutters for trimming, and locking pliers when you need a clamp that holds on its own. Longer handles give more reach and leverage; shorter handles fit tighter spaces.

What material and finish matter in pliers?

Forged alloy steel holds an edge and resists deformation under load. For electrical work, look for insulated handles rated to a recognized standard such as VDE 1000V. For corrosion resistance in damp environments, a polished or coated finish helps. Always inspect insulated handles for nicks before use on energized circuits.
